
A seasonal position for Vintage Cellar Hand at Conn Creek Winery in St Helena, CA is available with Ste. Michelle Wine Estates (SMWE). This position will assist project leaders as needed in all areas of production, optimizing quality, including various steps of the winemaking process: crush, fermentation, filtration, blending, and bottling. This seasonal position starts early-mid August and runs through mid-November. Housing stipend may be available.
Conn Creek's enduring commitment to Bordeaux-styled red wines started back in 1973; it was among a small group leading a renaissance of the Napa Valley and played an important part in establishing Napa Valley's reputation as a fine wine growing region. In 1979, the Collins family built what is now Conn Creek Winery in the Rutherford appellation. This energy-efficient facility was perhaps the first "green" winery building in Napa Valley and includes 12"-thick walls made of Styrofoam, steel mesh, gunite and a total of 20,000 corks. Today, nearly 40 years after its founding, Conn Creek is still focused on what Napa Valley does best: Cabernet Sauvignon and other Bordeaux varietals.

Vintage Cellar Hand job responsibilities include:
- Provide hands-on participation and support for operations relative to daily production activities.
- Assist on Grape receival, crushing, pressing, racking, and pomace-transfers.
- Clean grape's processing equipment, Sanitize tanks, Barrel cleaning, barrel stacking, and overall cleanliness of cellar.
Position Requirements:
- B.S. degree in Enology, Viticulture, Food Science or related field or substantial progress towards degree.
- Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must have the ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English.
- Ability to accurately complete work instructions individually or in a team.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to product quality.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
- History of responsible use of alcohol and other appropriate conduct, as well as fitness to be licensed, permitted, and/or certified by state and/or local regulatory bodies.
