Job Description:

Arcadia Management is seeking a skilled Property Accounting Manager with experience in residential and commercial property accounting. This position will lead our accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements while maintaining accounting principles and practices. The role reports directly to the Controller.

Qualifications/Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 5+ years of relevant property accounting experience.
  • Proven experience managing multiple properties and businesses.
  • Proficiency in Yardi software and related database systems.
  • Ability to manage and configure Yardi effectively.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with ownership, property leadership, and team members.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, including setting expectations and fostering accountability.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Results-driven mindset.

Job Duties:
  • Team Leadership:
    • Recruit, supervise, train, and develop the Property Management Accounting team (Staff Accountant and Accounting Clerk).
    • Manage a hybrid work environment for optimal productivity.
    • Communicate regularly with staff to meet both staff and organizational needs.
    • Set, measure, and achieve operational goals and objectives.
    • Coordinate workloads to ensure deadlines are met and provide backup support.
    • Facilitate ongoing training, education, and development for team members.
  • Accounting Oversight:
    • Oversee all property-related accounting functions to ensure timely completion per GAAP and regulatory requirements.
    • Manage general ledger journal entries, ensuring proper documentation and accuracy.
    • Conduct bank reconciliations and maintain accurate cash balances.
    • Review balance sheets and income statements for each property to verify account balances and assess revenue/expense reasonableness.
    • Oversee month-end close processes and accounts receivable management for all properties.
    • Review accounts payable and compile monthly financial reports.
    • Investigate and report on budget variances.
  • Professional Relationships:
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal departments, staff, vendors, and external agencies.
    • Complete other assigned projects as necessary.
  • Financial Management:
    • Collaborate with the Controller on financial management and oversight of Arcadia's portfolio.
    • Establish and maintain internal controls and best practices for financial accounting and analysis.
    • Monitor adherence to internal controls and related policies.
    • Set and update forecasts and budgets, providing explanations for deviations.
    • Work with operational teams to ensure understanding and adherence to established accounting procedures.
    • Implement best practice policies focused on continuous improvement and integration of Yardi and other IT systems.
    • Support Property Management in financial operations, including training and development of management tools.
    • Oversee the development and implementation of property accounting processes and maintain an up-to-date operations manual.
