Job Description Summary:The General Market Merchandiser position is a great way to get started in the alcohol beverage industry! No experience necessary; We will train you! In this role, you will maximize the sale of brands to independent general market customers and consumers through effective account management, merchandising and communication resulting in the achievement of company and supplier programs and objectives.

Essential Job Duties

Develop a written plan for what you want to accomplish in each of your assigned accounts.

Establish and follow a route to visit your accounts in an efficient and economical pattern.

Learn our brands and know in-depth features and benefits of each compared to the competition.

Servicing and merchandising within assigned accounts.

Gain knowledge of the specific customer's business operations and coordinate several options for merchandising the company's products to each.

Build positive relationships and an effective partnership with the true decision maker in accounts.

Communicate issues, opportunities and market intelligence with sales team.

Maintain up-to-date, accurate territory and account records.

Turn in updates and/or reports on time, as requested.

Experience & Training

No experience required. A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university is preferred for future leadership positions. Sales experience in the beverage alcohol industry is a plus.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:This position will require the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. This position will further require the ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. This position will also require the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions or groups of managers, customers, and employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:This position will require the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. This position will further require the ability to supply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:This position will require the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. This position will also require the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:Must possess valid driver's license, reliable vehicle and clean DMV record.


Please have or be able to develop excellent communication, negotiation, analytical and objection handling skills. You will need to use Microsoft Office environment (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.). This role requires you to get along with others and communicate with management, colleagues and customers throughout the business and industry at various levels.


Sales Tasks & Activities:Knowledge of processes, tools, techniques and theory behind selling the organization's products or services.

Knowledge of Customers & Sales Channels:Knowledge of specific customer's business operations and ability to coordinate multiple and diverse options for selling the organization's products and services to each. Knowledge of and ability to utilize customer profile and information.

Knowledge of Product Line:Knowledge of specific products and associated development process and strategy.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - ( These are required to perform the key responsibilities of the job with or without accommodations )

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly to build, move or fill displays. Must be able to walk, stand, climb, balance, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl on a daily basis in the accounts. Must be able to drive a reliable vehicle from account to account.
