Position Summary
The Control State On-Premise Director (MI/OH/PA) is responsible for achieving the organization’s strategic and commercial goals across key on-premise accounts within the control states of Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. This individual will build strong relationships with brokers, control state agencies, distributors, and key on-premise customers to drive execution of programming and deliver on profit and depletion goals. The candidate must possess a strong understanding of the control state environment, including navigating state regulations, working with brokers, and managing pricing and product placement strategies. One must reside in MI, OH or PA.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with broker teams, control state agencies, distributors, and key on-premise customer stakeholders. 
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans that align with control state regulations and brand goals. 
  • Analyze depletion, consumption, and sales trends to identify opportunities and risks, and direct the achievement of sales objectives. 
  • Collaborate with brokers to ensure execution of pricing strategies, product placement, and promotional programming within state guidelines. 
  • Monitor and influence distributor and broker performance to ensure alignment with organizational goals. 
  • Identify and create compelling promotional programming that complies with control state regulations and drives incremental growth in priority on premise accounts. 
  • Work closely with Marketing and Commercial teams to develop sales and marketing initiatives tailored to the control state on-premise environment.  Ensuring On Premise product pricing and inventory across the division is in place.

Knowledge and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required 
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in the consumer goods or spirits industry, with specific experience in control states required. 
  • Demonstrated experience working with brokers and navigating control state systems and regulations. 
  • Proven track record of delivering sales goals and objectives within highly regulated environments. 
  • Ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with brokers, control boards, distributors, and on-premise accounts. 
  • Strong leadership and team development skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Familiarity with sales reporting systems and analytics tools. 
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, negotiation, time management, and presentation skills required. 
  • Must have a valid state driver’s license. 
  • This position will require travel within Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania to build relationships, oversee execution, and ensure alignment with control state and organizational objectives.
