Description:
M.S. Walker is looking for a Director of Sales to add to our Rhode Island leadership team! Responsible for managing a group of 24 (Sales Managers, Sales Representatives, Key Account Managers/Specialists, and Brand Managers), this position demands a critical thinker and problem-solver who will not only manage market activity and ensure that M.S. Walker's key yearly, quarterly, monthly, weekly, and daily priorities are achieved; but an experienced motivational sales leader with prior success in wine and spirits.

Responsibilities:
  • State-wide field work both independently and in conjunction with other M.S. Walker team members
  • Engage key suppliers to develop strategies that drive collaborative business initiatives
  • Ensure that quotas are managed and achieved on a monthly basis
  • Organize and lead management team meetings and divisional sales meetings
  • Analyze and identify obstacles to achieving critical goals as soon as those issues arise.
  • Motivate, mentor, and evaluate team performance
  • Develop and maintain, in conjunction with VP Corporate Fine Wine Director, a sales structure that maximizes efficiency and effectiveness
  • Oversee the new construction account initiative to make sure opportunities are maximized
  • Be a visible force that leads by example, motivates, and provides concrete selling techniques and strategies to assist sales team in market execution
  • Work collaboratively with RI Director of Operations, Warehousing and Logistics Operations Manager, Office and marketing support staff

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Management or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of sales management experience in wine and spirits industry
  • Minimum of 5 years wholesale experience
  • Proven track record of execution and achievement against specific goals/initiatives
  • Relationship building and selling skills a must
  • In addition to field work, the Director of Sales is required to spend multiple days per week in the office
