Job Description:
The Area Manager is responsible for driving the success of multiple District Sales Teams by providing strong leadership, coaching, and strategic direction. This role oversees personnel management, sales plan execution, and key account development while ensuring alignment with company and supplier objectives. The manager works closely with District and Territory Managers to optimize performance, implement sales strategies, and foster supplier partnerships. Key responsibilities include team development, territory alignment, market analysis, and administrative oversight. The ideal candidate is a results-driven leader with industry experience, strong interpersonal skills, and a solid understanding of wine and spirits.\n\nPeople Management: \nSupport each District Managers team's opportunity for success, providing direction, supervision, training, evaluation and development.\nWork with District Managers on personnel issues and territory alignment.\nReinforce established work-with schedules with each District Manager; conduct coaching days in the field with District Managers and Territory Managers. \nOverall responsibility for division personnel issues and territory alignment.\nSales Plan Implementation and Company/Supplier Goal Achievement: \nAssist in the development of sales plans, quotas, profit and supplier goals and the methods to achieve those goals.\nRegularly review sales versus goal progress and report findings.\nAssist Sales Manager in achieving a successful business plan.\nEducate staff to build/improve product knowledge.\nWork closely with supplier partners to create a positive environment and goal achievement. \nAccount Relationships: \nConsistently survey market conditions to create and/or improve business.\nMaintain an active role in building key account business relationships.\nDevelop and manage lists of opportunity accounts. \nAdministrative Functions: \nAssist Sales Manager in providing accurate forecasting for inventory management.\nMonitor accounts receivable and follow-up with problem accounts timely.\nAbide by Company and legal policies governing the industry.\nAttend and take part in the development and preparation of meetings and presentations.\nKeep abreast of competitive information and activity.\nProperly use and care for all company property.\nMaintain a clean, safe and presentable working area and vehicle condition\nQualifications:\n\nBachelor's degree in related field and/or equivalent training and work experience preferred.\nPrior management experience in industry required.\nPrior experience working with suppliers and/or in a wholesale/distributor environment strongly desired.\nDemonstrated coaching and leadership skills with proven positive results required.\nAn understanding of wine and spirits is required. \nIndividuals with strong accounting, computer, customer service and interpersonal expertise preferred.\nMust be a results oriented professional with excellent verbal/written communication skills; uses diplomacy and discretion. Strong customer service orientation. Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team, pay attention to detail, and meet deadlines.\nProficient PC skills using MS Office and other various programs including presentation software.\nPrior experience working with Branches, Easy Bev and/or Quota Tracker a plus\nFamiliarity with assigned territory is a plus. \nMust have a valid driver's license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.\nThe position requires the use of a personal vehicle.\nCandidate must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check and physical
