About the role:

Come join the fastest-growing brand in North America, leading the growth of Mr Black from 100k to 200k cases. We are seeking an experienced commercial lead who can work closely with the Brand Director to grow Mr Black in the U.S. market, the largest market for the business. As the business expands nationally in the U.S., the role will champion the development of Mr Black to its long-term ambition: 1mm cases globally and 650k cs in the U.S. by F30.

This person will be responsible to work closely with both off and on-trade commercial teams (BD, BDMs), refining an existing roadmap to growth (and in line with the business case) for the next 3-5 years, and operationalizing and measuring the annual goals alongside of the AOP. The role is self-directed and entrepreneurial, but supported by a team of 3 based in New York (BD, SBM, BM).

Role Responsibilities :
  • Drive the business with a clear commercial strategy translated into clear channel and customer strategies and standards with a heavy focus on growing and winning the on premise
  • Refine and operationalize existing 1mm cs ambition as well as manage market plan delivery (AOP)
  • Partners closely with strategic account (on and off) and on premise teams to build strategy, programming and goals fit to 1mm cs ambition
  • Manage Mr Black brand ambassador program, including 4 brand ambassadors and agency, working through KPI, performance and adjustments over the course of year 1 program
  • Lead ongoing, in-market customer development and engagements, including market visits, founder visits and brand ambassador development of customer relationships
  • Develop and refine sales strategy, toolkit development, portfolio collaboration, serve strategy and execution parameters
  • Partners with RGM to articulate clear recommended retail pricing strategy and monitors execution of strategy intervening where required
  • Partners with FP&A to review shipments and connection to AOP, O&R and depletions pacing
  • Be the go-to and lead on internal execution data, including: distribution, displays, menus, Nielsen. Leads reporting on all performance activities: understand what is working, when & where we need to shift
  • Work closely with Diageo sales team and distributors to ensure flawless execution of customer initiatives
  • Work closely with CP&A lead to evaluate, measure and track point of sale and execution across markets and at launch
  • Develop and support commercial presentations for internal and external audiences
  • Generate well thought-out, accurate, and timely solutions to ad hoc requests
  • Time breakdown: Strategy, Commercial Development (30%); BA Management (35%); All other responsibilities (35%)

Experience / skills required:
  • MBA or equivalent experience preferred; Undergraduate degree required
  • 7+ years commercial, selling experience with time spent in market preferred
  • Deep understanding of how Diageo goes to market, both on and off trade and the legal and retail dynamics by market
  • Experience working alongside commercial teams and relationships across business, including with distributors
  • Consumer goods experience preferred, three-tiered industries or alcohol beverage experience a plus
  • US experience preferred
  • Strong relationship management with cross functional teams and close global team
  • Strong commercial skill with ability to enroll and motivate a large, complex sales organization
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively, prioritize and drive to action
